To the Chena
Community:
I am excited to share at this time with all Chena families,
some highlights of the planning that I have been doing with
the Board of Directors over the past couple of months. This
planning is in preparation for anticipated growth in the 2010-2011
season and for the years to come.
We foresee that Chena will continue to grow at all levels
in the coming years and want to ensure we are prepared for this
growth with a view to being the best competitive swim club possible
for all its members. In a similar vein, I too plan on
expanding my family in the next year or
so.
I have presented to the Board and they have unanimously
accepted a plan that is in the best interest of both the Club
and my desire to spend more time with my family. The plan
includes a cross country search for a highly skilled and
enthusiastic swim coach to take over my current role as Head Coach
for Chena. It is our intention to find a Head Coach
replacement within the next year, until then I will continue on in
my current role. A recruitment committee has already been
established and interviews have begun. When a suitable
replacement is found, I will step into another less demanding role
within the Chena organization. This could mean a new Head
Coach for Chena as early as this September, but ideally no later
than September next.
I would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you
to the 71 families who provided their thoughts and ideas through
our club survey; your comments are very important to us. I
feel that my coaches and I, and the Board, have done a good job,
and I also know we can do even better next season. Areas that we
will work to improve will be communication to the members as a
whole, better group to group movement processes, and a feedback
system that is more technically based rather than just on
times. I can’t wait to get started on this and would
like to thank everyone for their feedback, patience and belief in
me during my first year as Head Coach. It is a season I will
remember forever.
The Board and I are very pleased to openly share this plan
with the Chena community and we will continue to work hard to
facilitate a smooth transition to a new Head Coach. We hope
that all our members will share our view that by doing some forward
planning and being transparent in our activities, we are working
towards the best possible future for the
Club.
